Jennifer Garner is adding some major star power to the Starz revival of beloved early-2000s comedy, Party Down. The series, which became a cult hit more than a decade ago, is being revived for six episodes with original cast members Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Megan Mullally. Garner’s ever-popular Instagram videos about entertaining and cooking bring us so much joy, so we couldn’t have dreamed up better casting news.
In case you missed it the first time it aired (2009, to be precise), Party Down is about six very colorful characters looking for their big break in Los Angeles. But in order to pay their bills—and hopefully get noticed—they work as caterers, which makes for some insane situations (though they may not seem so out-there if you’ve ever attended a swanky party or event in L.A.).
Tyrel Jackson Williams (Thunder Force, Brockmire) and Zoë Chao (Love Life, The Afterparty) are also joining Garner in regular roles, and James Marsden (Sonic the Hedgehog, Dead to Me) will be a recurring guest star.
According to Starz publicity, Jennifer Garner will play Evie, a successful producer of studio franchise movies who, in the wake of a breakup, is reconsidering her life choices. She also enters into a relationship with Henry Pollard (Adam Scott), which will make for an interesting dynamic.
Meanwhile, Tyrel Jackson Williams will play Sackson, a handsome, confident, driven wannabe influencer/internet personality. He’s knowledgeable and savvy about his specific Internet niche but apparently lost in every other aspect of life. Zoë Chao will play Lucy, a passionate, outspoken, free-thinking, creative “food artist” who dreams of being a celebrity chef. And Marsden, who can next be seen in the third and final season of Netflix’s Dead to Me, will play Jack Botty (what a name), an actor who plays the lead in a popular superhero franchise.
