Ryan Reynolds Made the Chris Noth Peloton Commercial Happen ‘Faster Than Carrie Dialed 911’

Warning: And Just Like That… premiere spoilers ahead.

If you were devastated over Big’s death in the premiere of the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That…, Ryan Reynolds and Peloton are here to assure you that the man is actually alive and well.

On December 12, the exercise company released a hilarious commercial featuring Chris Noth and Jess King, who appeared on the HBO Max series as Big’s favorite Peloton instructor. “To new beginnings,” he tells her in a Christmas-laden bedroom with sultry music playing in the background.

“You look great,” she responds.

“I feel great. Should we take another ride?” he asks, pointing out that “life’s too short not to.” That’s when the camera pans out, revealing two Peloton bikes while a voice-over begins to spout off the health benefits of cycling…with a twist.

“And just like that, the world was reminded that regular cycling stimulates and improves your heart, lungs, and circulation, reducing your risk of cardiovascular diseases,” the voice says. “Cycling strengthens your heart muscles, lowers resting pulse, and reduces blood fat levels. He’s alive.”

Of course, the mysterious voice belongs to Ryan Reynolds, who hilariously enlisted “Peloton Wife” for an Aviation Gin commercial after that whole fiasco in 2019. In an interview with Ad Week, the actor revealed how he and his company, Maximum Effort agency, put this new commercial together in just 48 hours.

“A lot of credit here goes to Dara [Treseder, Peloton’s head of global marketing],” Reynolds said. “We’ve been talking to her for the past few weeks generally and when the episode hit, she reached out immediately. Luckily, we have some experience doing this, so the rest—over the last 48 hours—is history.”
