Selena Gomez is sad to be done filming the second season of her Hulu show Only Murders in the Building, but there is one upside. Now that she’s wrapped up her character Mabel Mora (for now), she can change up her look—and it looks like she did just that.
Via TikTok on March 30, Gomez revealed new bottleneck bangs…along with some other life updates. “Last day on set. I’m sad but here’s the new look,” she wrote alongside a short video taken in her makeup trailer. By the end, she sports a dramatic and colorful cat eye and a swipe of blue too. Her makeup artists used products from her Rare Beauty brand on the look, and Gomez scored the TikTok with her own song. Impressive, NGL.

She gave us a closer look at the new fringe in her next TikTok video as well as on Instagram. In her Instagram post, you can see the full effect of the bottleneck bob. “New hair, who dis,” she captioned the pic.

Bottleneck bangs are almost universally flattering, as celebrity hairstylist and European creative director for Evo hair Tom Smith explained to Glamour. “This hairstyle takes inspiration from the neck of a bottle; starting slim and short in the middle, curving longer around the eyes, and then longest following the line of the cheekbone,” he said. “This allows the length and angle to be adjusted depending on whether you want to make your cheekbones appear wider or stronger. Many people don’t suit a classic ‘fringe’—the solid horizontal line across the face—but most can wear bottleneck bangs to add softness to the face.”

Other stars to rock the look recently include Kristen Stewart. “To get bottleneck bangs, ask your hairstylist to create longer bangs that skim your cheekbones at an angle that flatters your face, curving around to create a layer that sits somewhere between your cheekbones and jaw,” Smith continued. “Then ask for the central part to be cut shorter, keeping the cutting line soft and choppy, with the shortest part in the middle and getting longer on the edges.”
