Why HGTV’s Flip or Flop Is Reportedly Ending After 10 Seasons

Flip or Flop, the popular HGTV home-improvement show, is coming to an end after 10 seasons and almost 10 years of filming. This doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, considering the two hosts of the show, former couple Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa, divorced in 2018—however, the show did continue for a five years after their relationship ended.

According to a source for People, the “intimate setting” of the show became too much for the two, who are both in separate relationships now. “Tarek and Christina are generally cordial,” said the People source. “They’re coparenting and nothing gets in the way of that.” The flipping pair share two children, Taylor and Brayden El Moussa.

The aptly titled Flip or Flop consisted of the former married duo buying, repairing, decorating, and reselling homes in Southern California in the hopes of flipping a profit—with the risk of a potential flop, of course. Throughout the hit series, the cameras have caught more than the reality of flipping a house; it also showcased the relationship between Haack and El Moussa, their separation, his cancer diagnosis, her pregnancy, and a lot of living in between.

Each posted to their individual Instagram accounts on Thursday, March 10, sharing the news of the show’s last run. With similar captions, the pair shared the “bittersweet news” of the show’s ending and included thanks to the crew and fans for all their support through the years.

“Next week’s episode of Flip or Flop will be the SERIES finale,” wrote Haack. “I’m filled with gratitude to have done 10 seasons of a hit show. I remember filming the pilot and thinking, ‘wouldn’t this be crazy if is this actually made it to network tv?’ And here we are, a decade later.”
