Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! If you’re a fan of Love Is Blind, the upcoming series The Ultimatum promises to take things even further. Yes, the masterminds behind the viciously addictive Netflix series have a new reality dating show—or should we say, reality marriage show—that’s sure to hook viewers (and perhaps destroy the institution of marriage once and for all).
Here’s everything we know about The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On.
Wait, so what is it? In The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, cold feet are put to the test. The show follows six established couples who are already heading to the altar, but there’s a problem: At least one of the partners isn’t 100% on board. The series offers them an ultimatum: Tie the knot or trade your person for someone else’s.
“In just over eight weeks, they must commit to marriage, or move on,” says Netflix, per E! “In the meantime, each will choose a new potential partner from one of the other couples, in a life-changing opportunity to get a glimpse of two different possible futures.”
How very Sliding Doors!
The trailer adds a few more wrinkles: The participants will spend three weeks living with new people, kind of like a dry run for life with someone else. Our prediction? Most will realize that what they have is pretty great and decide not to throw it away. Most, but certainly not all. That wouldn’t make for very exciting TV, and with the Love Is Blind team behind this, we know there’s gotta be drama.
Who exactly is involved? Per Variety, The Ultimatum is created by Married at First Sight and Love Is Blind producer Kinetic Content and creator Chris Coelen. Though the couples don’t seem to be from any previous reality franchises, there will be two familiar faces: Love Is Blind cohosts (and IRL married couple) Nick and Vanessa Lachey are returning to guide these almost-weds through what is sure to be a wild ride.
