Chriselle Lim on the Healing Power of Fragrance

Glamour: What’s one beauty trend you’re obsessed with right now?

Chriselle Lim: I’m trying to think what I saw last on TikTok. I tried the powder first before the foundation [trend]. It actually works. I’m not obsessed with it, but it works. I also really love good, glassy skin. I’ve never tried Vaseline [skin slugging] on my skin. But for me, I just keep hydrating. Every hour, if I’m not shooting, I always put on some sort of moisturizer or a spray to keep skin super hydrated, even throughout the day.

What’s one beauty rule that you absolutely swear by?

Everything fake basically works, like fake eyelashes. I do eyelash extensions. I have not worn mascara because of them.

Oh, and microblading eyebrows. I still draw my brows in for shoots, but on the every day I don’t have to do my brows. I don’t have to do my lashes. I also have my eyeliner tattooed, so I don’t have to do that either.

What’s one beauty rule that you think is B.S.?

I think the whole 10-step skin-care routine is B.S., even though I did talk about it many times before. But now that I’ve dwindled it down to three steps, my skin is still as good.

Fill in the blank. I love my hair when…

I love my hair when it’s short and voluminous. I have very thick hair, so immediately, right after I take a shower, I have to sleep on it or else it’ll get really puffy. But I like it the next day. So, one day after a shower.

Fill in the blank. I feel most beautiful when…

I feel the most beautiful when I have dewy, yummy skin and fragrance on. Yummy fragrance-smelling skin.

You travel constantly. What city or country gives you the greatest beauty inspiration?

Probably France. Paris. The women are so natural and effortless there. They don’t even try that hard, or it doesn’t seem like they’ve tried that hard. It just feels really cool, and you realize that there’s a lot of beauty in just being natural. Whereas some places you just want to get more stuff done or more, I feel the opposite in France. I’m like, I think I have too much on or I have too much stuff done.

You can use only three products for the rest of your life. What are they and why?

Missing Person, obviously, because I want to smell good for the rest of my life. When I die, I want to smell good too. That’s how I want to be remembered. I would say a blush I could use as a lip tint and a cheek tint. I’m trying to think of multiuse things so I could cheat this a little bit. And probably sunscreen. Tinted sunscreen so I get some coverage!

Missing Person

What is your favorite way to take a moment for yourself?

Definitely being able to light up my candle and read a book at the end of the day. That’s my favorite way to have some time to myself. If I’m feeling really indulgent, then maybe a nice luxurious massage or something, but that rarely happens.
