It feels so long ago but there was a time when the world was on lockdown and the one source of joy each day was when photos of Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, Dunkin’ cups in hand, flooded social media.
So much has changed since then. The former couple, who quarantined together in 2020 and broke up after about a year of dating in January 2021, met on the set of Deep Water, an erotic thriller from director Adrian Lyne (Fatal Attraction, Indecent Proposal). After nearly two years of sitting on a shelf somewhere, the film—which was supposed to come out in 2020—finally has a release date: It will premiere on Hulu on March 18, and the first trailer just dropped.
In the—very erotic, you’ve been warned—teaser, Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck sit in a park and stare into each other’s eyes while discussing their love for each other. The camera is super close up and focuses on their faces and bodies. And then there’s some sexy, heavy breathing. “There’s something wrong with me,” de Armas says.
Affleck replies, “There’s something wrong with me too.”

While the trailer doesn’t reveal much about the movie, there is one thing that we can speculate about Deep Water after seeing this trailer: It seems entirely likely that Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck’s current girlfriend, will not be seeing it. Understandable! The psychological thriller is based on the 1957 novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith and the screenplay was written by Zach Helm and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson.
