Gonna come right out and say it: I love this chill baby.
Meteorologist Rebecca Schuld, who reports the weather forecast for CBS 58 News in Milwaukee and has been working from home, held her 13-week-old daughter Fiona during a recent live broadcast, and Fiona was such a pro.
Schuld told Yahoo! Life that including Fiona in the broadcast was actually her producer’s idea, a spur-of-the-moment decision that reflected the reality of parenting while working during the pandemic. “I was just minutes away from having my next weather broadcast, and my baby had just woken up,” Schuld explained. “I go over to my green wall. I’m holding her and our producer is like, ‘Oh, your baby, is she gonna make an appearance?’ I was very confident she was going to behave because she just took a long nap, so I knew she’d be happy. I said, ‘Sure!’”
Having recently come back to work after maternity leave, Schuld realized afterward that this decision was, in a way, the new normal and far from unprofessional. “This is real life,” she said. “This is what everyone else is also doing. They work, their kids are sick, or their kids are crying in the background. It’s always a challenge when you have kids in the mix, but that’s what so many of us are doing everyday. So why are we hiding them?”
Viewers and colleagues were all charmed by Fiona’s cameo, which went off without a hitch.

“She’s prepared. She’s got one of her good thick blankies here for that cold weather that’s coming up tonight,” Schuld said during her broadcast.
