It looks like Shay Mitchell got the message that the boy bob is the hair trend set to dominate 2022.
On January 15, the Pretty Little Liars and You star shared a major hair transformation on TikTok.In the video, Mitchell yanks at her long hair until it transforms into a sexy, wavy bob that is just the right amount of undone. She also rocked some new straight bangs to finish off the look. She captioned the TikTok, “Long or short?”

Earlier in January, Glamour U.K. declared the boy bob the “biggest haircut of 2022,” but what’s the difference between a boy bob and, let’s say, an A-line bob, Frenchie bob, collarbone bob, ’90s crop bob, tucked bob, pixie bob, or even the box bob?
Well, according to L.A. hairstylist Sal Salcedo, blunt boy bobs “will be all the rage” thanks to their looser, less high-maintenance aesthetic. “It’s a fuller take on the bob where the natural texture can roam free. Anything from chin to collarbone length is game here,” Salcedo explains.
Leading London hairstylist and CEO of Hershesons, Luke Hersheson, also declared the look a winner. “What’s important is the texture of the bob. It needs to feel a bit undone, nothing too rigid.” He recommends air-drying “so it’s got a bit of movement in it.”
Shay Mitchell opted for a shoulder-length version of the look with a dramatic straight bang—a major departure from her textured, waist-length locks she was sporting in late December.

An easy-to-style hair routine may be just what Mitchell needs, considering the actor recently showed off a 58-Step skincare and beauty routine, complete with six different face masks and a 24-karat gold breast mask. “If I have time, I really go full out with my skincare,” she said in November 2021 during her Vogue beauty secrets video. “Why not? It feels good.” Still, there are only so many hours in the day!
