This Bride Wore a Textured Wedding Gown So Her Blind Husband Could Remember the Feeling

To make an already special day even more memorable, bride Kelly Anne Ferraro chose her wedding gown with her husband Anthony’s blindness in mind. For her outdoor wedding, held in Maine on October 2, Kelly wore a white gown from Loulette in Brooklyn, one that featured a velvet ribbon around the waist, embroidered flowers, and lace.

“Her back even had a texture,” her now husband, paralympian Anthony Ferraro, told Today. “To top it all off, she surprised me with this amazing custom jacket she put on later and had this crazy fringe hanging off her arms. It reminded me of our first date.”

“Picking a dress Anthony could feel was one of the most important details of the day,” Kelly told Glamour. And it sounds like it fully paid off: When she reached her groom at the altar, Kelly put his hands on her dress, and he burst into tears. “Tactile stuff is really big to me. It creates an image of what you look like in my head. Kelly looked like an angel,” Anthony recalled, per Today.

The special considerations didn’t stop there. At the reception the poles holding up the tent were wrapped in bubble wrap and then decorated so that Anthony could move freely in the space. Sharp corners and edges are also covered in the couple’s apartment. “I make our home accessible, so why wouldn’t I try and make our wedding day?” Kelly told Glamour.

It’s the attitude she’s had since the start of their relationship. She wore a velvet dress on their first date in 2018 so that Anthony would have a tactile memory of it, and that thoughtfulness is what helped romance bloom. “She went above and beyond and thought it through,” Anthony said, according to Today. “No one has ever done that for me.”

Anthony posted a video from their boho-chic wedding (set to the Twilight song) to his TikTok account, where it racked up hundreds of thousands of views and likes.

Warning: It is extremely cute and features a dog in a tutu.
