“I also have a dragon that turns around my right hip bone, down to my knee, exactly I had rods surgically inserted into my femur to aid my bones, where the the cancer had spread; this animal hides the scars. To me, dragons symbolize spring, generosity, freedom, free-mindedness, and creativity. Travelling to also right-handed, so receiving the dragon on my dominant borders is also significant. ” —A. J.

“Butterflies represent garage area, bursting forth from the darkness and isolation of the chrysalis, which is not unlike what owns happened to me as a result of my own MBC diagnosis. This tatto represents how I’ve break open out of my shell. Regarding my kiddos’ names within the wings, because they give me wings, and my husband’s address in the body of the butterfly, in which he is my rock, centering and grounding me. Putting on art on my body allows me to redefine the scars combined with effects of MBC treatment. ” —A. M.

“My tattoos happen to be part of who I am as a thoughtful woman, kind of like my scar issues have become. As an artist as if a woman living with metastatic breast cancer , Excellent story to tell, and I just a little happen to wear my picture on my skin. I’ve had spent my 21-year career in the field of tattooing, so not every body art has an intention behind it. Really, however , all speak to i am. They serve as reminders of exactly where I was at any given échange, physically or mentally, over the last 20 years, as well as how far I have come in life. Some of my top features are my children’s brand names, my grandparents’ portraits, together with Hindu god Ganesha—the resucitar of obstacles—on my if, which I got just after report on terminal breast cancer diagnosis. —Beth Fairchild
